A Review of the Cultural Centre “Loukis Akritas” room of the Morfou Coop Company

Following the request of the Morfou Coop members and the versions Morfou organizations, the company created a cultural centre on the second floor of our new offices in order to meet the needs of our occupied town.

The board of the Morfou Coop Company at the meeting on the 3rd September 2002 decides unanimously that the large room of the cultural centre should be given the name “Loukis Akritas”.

The above decision constituted the least honor and respect for the unforgettable child of Morfou Loukis Akritas who served as undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Religion in Greece, a great teacher but also a major signpost for the people of Morfou whose duty, no doubt, is to pay the due respect to all those who honored our occupied town with their work or services.

We believe that the cultural centre for the refugees of Morfou and the surrounding area will constitute an intellectual nursery, workshop and centre which will contribute substantially to the spiritual and cultural development of our people and our country.
